and physical description could be compared against soldiers in the

by L.B. Goggin have sold unto him a negro boy slave for life, named
Obadiah, aged about twenty years-- and the said Jane L. Marshall does
warrant and defend the title to said slave against the lawful claim
or claims of any and all persons whomsoever-- Given under my hand and
seal this 2nd day of April A.D. 1862. Jane L. Marshall {seal}”

to my wife, Jane Nelson, and this boy Spencer Green was born mine
after his mother was given to my wife by her father, Genl Lee.” His
claim was witnessed by Christian Shuttz and Robert William Nelson of
Mason County. His attorney was Harlan and Harlan of Frankfort, Ky.
