Substitute for William H. Richardson of Mason County. Nov. 1864-Jan. 1865 rolls say “Absent. In hospital at Camp Nelson, Ky.” Jan-Feb 1866 roll says “Sentenced by Field Court Martial to 30 days confinement, promulgated per S.O. No. 14 Hd Qrs. 5Th U.S.C.C. Helena, Arkansas date January 25, 1866. Specification of the court martial was that Dandridge “did steal or [illegible] take one cavalry greatcoat, the property of Sergeant Robert Arthur, Company A, 5th U.S.C. Cavalry. This from a tent occupied by Sergeant Robert Arthur or quarters in the camp of the Fifth U.S.C. Cavalry near Helena Arkansas on or about the 9th of January 1866.” The second specification was that Dandridge “did sell or dispose of one U.S. Cavalry greatcoat to a citizen, one C.C. Glover” on or about the same day. Dandridge pled guilty to both and was found guilty of both and sentenced “to be confined at hard labor with his regiment for the period of one month.” He mustered out March 16, of 1866, last having been paid October 31, 1865.
